Retiring Marion Township Trustee Richard Rasmussen has been selected as December 2015 Republican of the Month by the Marion County Republican Central and Executive Committee.
Rasmussen has served as a trustee for the past 12 years. In addition he has been a board member of the Marion Chamber of Commerce and CANDO as well as serving as chairman of the Marion Area Manufactures Council. He is a member of the Marion County Republican Club.
Rasmussen is a member of St. Mary’s Church were he was an usher for 15 years. A graduate of St. John’s University, Collegeville, MN., he is a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as an artillery officer during the Vietnam War.
For 18 years, he was employed as plant manager of Vigortone Products Company in Marion and Thompson, Ga. which took him to seven states. He and his wife, Meg, of 53 years, both born in Sleepy Eye, MN., have three children, all living in Ohio and seven grandchildren.
