The Marion Police Department said they arrested three individuals suspected in two burglaries in Marion. In both cases, the suspects were caught at the scenes of the alleged crimes.
At 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2015, officers from the Marion Police Department, along with detectives from the MARMET Drug Task Force, responded to the 300 block of Marion Avenue on a suspicious persons call. Officers said they located Jessica Malone, 24 years old of Marion, in a rear alley and she was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
A male subject was seen carrying a TV and a bag of items towards this back alley. Once seeing the detectives, the male reportedly dropped the TV and attempted to flee on foot. The detectives caught and apprehended the male, identified as Tony Price, 25 years old of Marion, after a short foot chase.
Officials said their investigation discovered a burglary in the 280 block of Marion Avenue and the property recovered was from that burglary.
These two arrests were in addition to a juvenile male that was arrested Monday night. Police said he was caught and arrested while leaving the scene of a breaking and entering in the 500 block of Olney Avenue. At that time, police said he was found in possession of stolen property from a vehicle break- in that took place in the 780 block of Windsor Street.
“The Marion Police Department appreciates the eyes of the community,” said Lt. Mark Beaschler. “These calls of suspicious people in the neighborhood helped apprehend these daytime and nightime burglars.”
