Kingston Residence of Marion recently celebrated their January’s Resident Spotlight. The resident spotlighted was June LaVonne (Beaver) Graham.
June was born on June 24, 1913 which makes her 102+ years old. June was married to Chester “Chet” Graham for 62 yrs. and 8 months. She has 3 children (all girls), 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. That’s a span of 5 generations.
While growing up, June showed her natural artistic talents and created many drawings and paintings. June also lettered in basketball her junior and senior years at Green Camp school.
June is a charter member of the Marion Historical Society since 1969 and was the co-founder of the Happy Homemakers Club and member for 70 years. She worked at Stewart’s Photography for many years oil coloring photos.
June was an accomplished seamstress and made several wedding gowns, made the robes for The First United Church of Christ children’s choir (God’s Cherubs) and made her children’s clothes. June was also on the Union County, Jackson Township Board of Elections. She attended 7 Rose Bowls and on her 100th birthday, she received a birthday letter from the White House and from the Ohio House of Representatives and General Assembly.
June is a 7 year resident of Kingston and the oldest at 102.
