Three juveniles arrested for arson in New Bloomington

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said they arrested three juveniles in connection to a suspected arson in New Bloomington Monday evening.

On February 15, 2016, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said they received a report of a fire at a vacant building in the 200 block of North Main Street in the Village of New Bloomington at approximately 2:46pm.

Med Care Ambulance, Scioto Valley, Green Camp, Marseilles, Mt. Victory, and Salt Rock Fire Departments responded as well as deputies from Sheriff’s Office. Officials determined that arson was suspected to be the cause of the fire.

Deputies said they were able to obtain leads which led to the arrest of three juveniles they said were responsible for the fire. A 17-year-old male juvenile of LaRue, a 13-year-old male juvenile of New Bloomington, and a 12-year-old male juvenile of Marion were all located and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center for criminal charges of Arson and Breaking and Entering.

The building sustained damage as a result of the fire and fire crews were on scene until approximately 7:00 pm.

Sheriff Tim Bailey issued thanks to those who were quick to alert dispatchers of the fire and those who were able to provide information to assist in the investigation.
