United Way partnered with Bluefusion Entertainment to host the First Annual Bowl for Marion on Saturday, April 16, 2016. More than 70 bowlers, 12 companies, and 19 teams took part in raising money for the 2016 Campaign.

Over $1,700 was raised in an effort to support our 18 partner agencies and 32 local programs.

“We are so excited to see so many businesses get involved for the first year,” said Community Engagement Coordinator, Natalie Longmeier. “I am looking forward to planning next year’s event. The people really seemed to enjoy themselves and we have received positive feedback from the participants.”

Businesses that participated in the United Way Bowl for Marion event included; Boyd-Born Funeral Homes, Marion Community Credit Union, Marion County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Marion County Job and Family Services, Marion Matters, Mobile Meals, OhioHealth Marion General Hospital, POET, ProScape, Safety City, Snyder Funeral Homes and Wyandot Inc. Auction items were donated by Whirlpool Inc., Peacock Water, Verne Hart Insurance, United Bank, Walmart, Rejuvenations, Carroll’s Jewelers, Marion Community Credit Union, Clear Channel Marion, and Ohio Neck and Back Pain Relief Center.

ProScape also won the award for the most money raised in addition to their team entry fee. Cedric Holmes, a member of the Ohio Health Marion General Hospital “Ford” team, received the award for overall highest individual score of the event.

Heidi Jones, Executive Director of Marion Matters said, “As a Partner Agency of the United Way, our agency thoroughly enjoyed The Bowling for Marion Event. It was great to have an opportunity to mingle with other Partner Agency’s and The United Way staff outside of a professional setting. It was wonderful to see so many businesses there to support the work that we do in our community. We can’t wait for next year.”
