Keith Severns, EMS Coordinator, OhioHealth Marion General Hospital presenting an official Proclamation of Celebration of EMS Week which was accepted by EMS Medical Director Dr. Larry Lewis.
OhioHealth Marion General Hospital recently honored local Emergency Medical Services (EMS) providers during their annual EMS Week (May 15-21, 2016). This event brought together close to 40 medical personnel and firefighters to honor the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of the medical “front-line”.
Keith Severns, EMS Coordinator for OhioHealth Marion General Hospital, welcomed all attendees to the EMS Week Continued Education Units (CEU) Celebration. Severns thanked all EMS providers for the last year of hard work and the patients and families they have responded to and transported.
National Emergency Medical Services Week is a great time to recognize the tremendous efforts that EMS practitioners make to improve health in communities across the nation. The around-the-clock dedication to providing emergency care is evident with one statistic: more than 36 million patients were cared for by EMS professionals in 2015. EMS transports approximately 6500 patients each year to OhioHealth Marion General Hospital.
The event began with Keith Severns presenting an official Proclamation of Celebration of EMS Week with the national theme: EMS STRONG CALLED TO CARE signed by Mayor Scott Schertzer. The honor was accepted by EMS Medical Director Dr. Larry Lewis. The Proclamation is displayed in the EMS Report Room at Marion General Hospital.
Dr. Larry Lewis commended Marion County EMS providers for accepting and implementing the current technology trends and protocol changes in Marion County.
The program included EMS Education from Alex Perchuk, MD, Medical Director of Neurosciences and Stroke from OhioHealth with a presentation on Stroke and Dave McKinnis EMT-P, EMS-I from Tri-Rivers Public Safety with a presentation for Trauma Triage.
Pizza and Snacks were provided by Marion General Hospital and Team Health Physicians Group.
