Marion Police arrest three for violent home invasion

The Marion Police Department reports that on May 24, 2016, a resident in the 900 block of Merkle Avenue was the victim of a home invasion. The male senior citizen was assaulted and suffered numerous injuries, including a skull fracture. There was also a theft from the home as well during this incident.

On May 26, 2016, Marion County Adult Probation was searching the home of a probationer in the 700 block of Savannah Drive and said they located the stolen item. A search warrant was obtained for that residence and additional evidence was recovered leading detectives from the Marion Police Department to arrest two 17 year old juveniles and Preston Cobb, age 19, of Marion.

All three suspects were charged with aggravated robbery. The juveniles were transported to the Juvenile Detention Center and the adult was taken to the Multi-County Correctional Center.

“This very violent attack luckily did not end with a fatality and the Marion Police Department is grateful that these three perpetrators have been taken off the street,” said Major Jay McDonald of the Marion Police Department.

Marion PD was assisted by Marion County Adult Probation and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in this ongoing investigation.
