Troopers from the Marion Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Friday, July 8, 2016, at approximately 10:20 a.m. on Center Street between the intersections of Lincoln Avenue and Reed Avenue in the City of Marion.
The crash involved a 2002 blue Dodge Dakota pick-up driven by Timothy Roll, 45, of Marion, and a 2006 silver Dodge Durango sport utility vehicle driven by Rodney Bosse, 68, of Marion. The Pick-up had two passengers, Anthony Denney, 28, and Frederic Brooks, 41, both of Marion.
Investigators said the Dodge Dakota was traveling west on Center Street (State Route 309) in the right lane. The Dodge Durango was traveling eastbound on Center Street and suddenly veered left of center and struck the Dodge Dakota head-on. The impact forced the Dodge Dakota onto the tree-lawn on the north side of Center Street and the Dodge Durango rotated to the left and struck an Ohio Edison utility pole on the north side of Center Street.
The occupants of the vehicles were transported to Marion General Hospital by Marion Township Fire, Marion City Fire, 1st Consolidated Fire Department and Med Care ambulances services. Roll, Bosse and Brooks were then transferred to Columbus area hospitals. Denney was pronounced deceased at the scene by Deputy Coroner Dr. M. Davis.
Assisting at the scene were: Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Marion City P.D. and Streets Department, Marion Township Fire & EMS, First Consolidated Fire & EMS, Marion City Fire and B&B Towing.
No charges have been filed at this time and the crash remains under investigation.
