Marion County Park District announced August 2016 activities

The Marion County Park District has announced they will hold the following activities during the month of August 2016. The first five events all take place this week.

Tuesday: The Tallgrass Trail Nature Center will be open from noon to 6 p.m., with a Coyotes of Ohio program (geared to adults) at 7 p.m.

Thursday: Stream study at Terradise Nature Preserve at 6 p.m.  From Caledonia, go south on SR 746, and turn right on Marion Williamsport Road until it ends at the parking lot. All ages.

Friday: “Looking for Moths” program at Tallgrass Trail from 9 to 11 pm. Come and go as you please. (all ages).

Saturday:
9 to 11 a.m.: Take a leisurely bicycle ride with a naturalist on the Tallgrass Trail.
Noon to 2 p.m.:  Youth archery program 12-2pm at Tallgrass Trail, hosted by Marion County wildlife officer Chad Grote. We will provide bows and arrows

Tuesday, August 9: Tallgrass Trail Nature Center open 10 am to 4 pm.

Thursday, August 11: Bird watching program at 6 p.m. at Greenspur Nature Preserve, located on St. Rt. 203 just north of SR 4. All ages.

Tuesday, August 16: Tallgrass Trail Nature Center open 2 to 7 p.m. Make animal track molds from 6 to 7 pm. All ages.

Thursday, August 18: Insect program from 6 to 7 p.m. at Tallgrass Trail Nature Center. All ages.

Saturday, August 20:
1-5:30 p.m.: Paleontology at The Park at Tallgrass Trail. Walk the Path to the Past to see how old the earth is – Have your Passport to the Past stamped for each activity you complete & receive a free Ordivician Fossil (400+ million years old) when you complete 4 activities. (All ages)
9 p.m.: Night hike on the Tallgrass Trail.

Tuesday, August 23: Tallgrass Trail Nature Center will be open from noon to 6 p.m., with a Habitat program at 6 p.m.

Thursday, August 25: Tallgrass Trail Nature Center open  2-6 p.m. Wetlands program from 6-7 pm at Tallgrass Trail (all ages).

Tuesday, August 30: Listen to us on WMRN 1490 AM at 10 a.m.
Forestry Program  from 6 to 7 p.m. at Tallgrass Trail. (older children and adults)
