St. Mary Parish Festival includes food, games, and a $3,000 top prize

St. Mary Church, 251 North Main Street in Marion, invites the community to their parish festival offering chicken BBQ on Saturday, August 20 and family-fun foods and games on Sunday, August 21, 2016.

Saturday evening focuses on the famous Mike Nicolosi Chicken Dinners offered from 6:00-8:00 p.m. (or until sold out).  Dinner includes role/butter, baked beans, coleslaw, and half a chicken for $10. Dinners will be eat-in or carry-out. You will want to make a quick stop by the homemade-goodies on the bake sale table to pick up dessert to complete your dinner.

Last year the dinners sold out quickly so you may want to pick up your dinner tickets early by stopping by the St. Mary Parish office.

Sunday afternoon, August 21 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. offers a variety of family-fun activities as well as festival-type foods to enjoy.

If you enjoy a challenge, you can try your steady hand at balloon darts, chance a round or two of plinko, or see how many quarters it takes to drop the mother load in the quarter drop. Pony and train rides will be available as the kids make the rounds to these and more of the other games that will dot the church’s north parking lot.

Lots of food will be available, including fresh made tamales or the walking taco with all the favorite toppings.  In the mood for something sweet, you can check out the cake wheel and take home some goodies, or opt for the funnel cake, cotton candy, snow cone or slurp on a lemon shake.

A craft bazaar brings a new twist this year. This setup offers an opportunity to get an early start on purchasing some Christmas gifts while you check out the crafty displays.

Stop by either Saturday or Sunday to pick up your raffle ticket where you could take home $3,000, $2,000 or $1,000. One ticket for $10, 6 for $50 or twelve for $100 gets you into the Sunday afternoon drawing. You need not be present to win. If you just want raffle tickets, you can stop by St. Mary Parish office anytime during business hours to purchase yours.
