Pennsylvania fugitives arrested in Marion

On September 22, 2016, the Marion Police Department was alerted by authorities from Pennsylvania that two wanted fugitives might be in the area. Both fugitives were wanted on theft warrants and are suspects in a stranger kidnapping in Westmoreland County, PA.

Marion police, with the assistance of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, MARMET Drug Task Force, Marion County Combined Dispatch Center, Marion City Transit, and the Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office, PA, were able to locate and arrest the couple in the area of the 1600 block of Marion-Mt. Gilead Road without incident.

April Alsippo, age 33 of Leechburg, PA, and Scott Lichtenwalner, age 26 of Vandergrif, PA, were transported to the Multi-County Correctional Center until the filing of formal charges. During their arrest, 3 grams of heroin was located. Alsippo and Leechburg have no ties to Marion.

“This is another great job of law enforcement in Marion County coming together to get two very violent criminals off the street in less than an hour,” stated Marion County Sheriff Tim Bailey.

“A quick response from law enforcement may have prevented the two from committing further crime in Marion,” said Marion Police Chief Bill Collins. “I am very thankful for the fast response from all departments which were involved.”

Alsippo and Leechburg will face Fugitive from Justice charges and will remain in Marion until authorities from Westmoreland, PA arrange transportation back to the State of Pennsylvania.
