The United Way of Marion County’s annual campaign is set to kick off on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at the OhioHealth Marion General Hospital. The celebration is in conjunction with the Marion Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours and will begin at 5:00 pm, with a brief presentation at 5:30 pm.
This year’s emphasis is on how United Way helps people right here at home. Attendees will be joined by those whose lives have been changed by United Way-funded programs and efforts. They will tell their stories, along with volunteers who have given their time and talents to help change Marion County lives and, as a result, experienced change themselves.
Thomas Quade, Marion County Health Commissioner will act as 2016 Campaign Chair.
“We are very excited this year as we kick off the campaign,” said Amber Wertman, Executive Director of United Way of Marion County. “Tom Quade is the perfect chairman for 2016 because the Marion Public Health organization is all about change for the better. And although raising funds is vital for our work, we really want our donors to know that the true measure of our success is in the number of lives we change.”
United Way does the critical, but largely invisible work required to reach community goals in education, financial stability and health, as well as provide safety net services for those in need, said Quade. They work closely with donors, advocates, volunteers and community partners to create opportunities for a better life for all.
