Taking center stage at the historic Marion Palace Theatre is the annual community production of “Christmas at the Palace” on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, December 3 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 4 at 2:00 p.m.
Written and directed by Clare Cooke, “Christmas at the Palace” includes a cast of 350 singers, dancers and performers ages 4 to 80 years. The show, which follows the storyline “A Christmas Homecoming,” will also feature several out-of-town theatre friends who will return to the Palace and share their talents in this annual holiday production.
Homecoming guests will be Carly Augenstein, a New York based actress, singer, and comedienne, and who is also a 2007 graduate of River Valley High School; NYC resident Jon Baldauf, who also grew up performing on the Palace stage and is a Pleasant High School alumni; and Floridian Patrick Roach, who will re-unite with his Ohio friends and family for “Christmas at the Palace 2016.”
Audience members will enjoy instrumental numbers by the Palace Theatre Big Band and the Lisiecki Family. Dance acts will feature students from Diverse Dance Moves, Douce Dance Studio, Men’s and Ladies’ adult tap-lines, and more. Traditional and contemporary holiday songs are to be performed by the adult and children’s choirs and several talented soloists. Vocal groups scheduled to perform include Barbershop Harmony Chorus The Marionaires, Logos Christian Ministries Choir directed by Janice Howell, Grace Notes, Sassy Seven and The Drama Mamas. Adding comedy to the family-friendly program will be Santa Claus (Bruce Cudd), Mrs. Claus (Sharon Gale) and Sassy the Elf (Julia Vanderhoff). Rounding out the program will be a heartwarming Veteran and First Responder Recognition and a touching Nativity Scene.
