The Marion Technical College Board of Trustees welcomed new member Ken Young. Judge Deborah Alspach swore Young in at a recent board meeting. Young is an Upper Sandusky native and current resident. He works in Marion for United Church Homes, serving as executive vice president and general counsel for the last 11 years. Young has been locally appointed to represent Wyandot County on the board.
“I’m looking forward to serving on the MTC Board of Trustees as I have a strong belief in the value of people achieving their goals, and obtaining as much education and training as you can is a proven path toward accomplishing those career and other personal goals,” Young stated.
Young graduated from Upper Sandusky High School, received his undergraduate degree from Ohio Wesleyan and his law degree from The Ohio State University. He returned to Upper Sandusky to become a partner in a local law firm before joining United Church Homes.
“I’ve greatly benefited from having educational opportunities. I give a great amount of credit to certain teachers, professors and other mentors for helping me achieve some of my professional goals,” Young shared. “By being part of the MTC board, I may be able to provide some of those benefits to others that were provided to me, and pay it forward. Although I have much to learn about MTC, I do know it has an excellent faculty and staff, and serves a vital educational and economic role in the Marion and surrounding counties area. I hope to contribute to sustaining MTC’s mission and growth.”
In addition, the Board of Trustees recently thanked former board chairman Rex Parrott, for his two years of service, including his leadership during MTC’s presidential search. Parrott was presented him a gift of an honorary gavel to show appreciation for his service. Parrott retired from Wyandot, Inc. as president last year.
