Bernice Marie Huntsman, age 91, of Marion, died early Saturday morning, April 10, 2010, at her residence following a short illness.
She was born in Marion County on March 5, 1919, the daughter of the late Edward and Gladys (Augestine) Pfirsch.
She graduated from Pleasant High School in 1938, along with 16 other classmates.
Bernice married Samuel Fremont Huntsman in Greenup, Kentucky, on June 3, 1939. They shared 63 years before his passing on November 8, 2002, at the age of 83.
She was a homemaker, a Girl Scout leader, and a Red Cross and hospital volunteer for 37 years. Most importantly though, she was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandma. Bernice was a member of the Prospect Street United Methodist Church.
Bernice will be dearly missed by her daughter, Phyllis Ann Williams of Marion; her granddaughter, Janet Lee (Tim) Van Gorden; her grandson, Wayne Edward Williams; five great grandsons; Andrew, Ethan and Jacob Van Gorden, and Bryce and Tyler Williams; and a special cousin, Don (Ruth) Rengert of Waldo.
Her family will greet friends from 3 – 6 p.m. on Monday, April 12, 2010, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion, where services celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, with her great grandson, Andrew Van Gorden conducting the service. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.
