Bobby Dale Walters, age 74, anxiously went to be with his Lord on the Lord's day, April 17, 2010.
He was a life-long resident of Marion. His parents were "Woody" and Dorothy Walters, both of whom preceded him in death.
Bobby is survived by a sister, Joyce (Ken); two brothers, Carl (Amber) and Tedd (Nancy); children, Jeff and Nancy; granddaughters, Cachel and Chelsea; great grandsons, Corban and Braxton; and a nephew, Matthew (Jennifer).
Bobby was retired from the Southland Mall, where he worked in maintenance for 30 + years. One of the perks he enjoyed most about the job was the interaction he was able to have with folks visiting the mall. Not only was he able to see old friends as they casually made their rounds, but he made countless new acquaintances through the years. It's utterly amazing that his breaks always coincidentally just happened to coincide with the times when someone would come by and say, "Hey Bobby Dale, got a couple of minutes to solve some of the problems of the world?"
He served in the Navy and was a lover of the great outdoors, whether it was fishing (either in local ponds or for walleye in Lake Erie), small game and deer hunting, or gardening (particularly, tomatoes and Thai peppers) with his friend, John.
Bobby had an unusually dry sense of humor, which was evident until the very end, and his conversation was often liberally laced with 4-letter expletives (being careful not to use the Lord's name in vain). He suffered from a life-long affliction with an acute genetic malady, commonly know as Walters "bull-headedness". His taste in music ran to the old standards, his favorite song being Phil Harris' "I Just Gotta Have Another Cigarette". (specifically, another unfiltered Camel, or two).
He will be sorely missed by his family, friends , Sally, Juanita and Clara, The Deer Hunters, and the gang at the Stag.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no visitation and no celebration of life service. RIP, Bobby Dale.
