George H. Fisher Sr., age 76 of Marengo died Friday, April 23, 2010 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born on November 28, 1933 in Columbus to the late George H. and Imogene (Smith) Fisher. A lifelong painter, he had been a resident of Marengo for the past 48 years.
An outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. George collected post cards and old toy trucks. Kind hearted and generous, he was always helpful. Family was most important and he always had a grandchild underfoot.
He enjoyed listening to guitar music, even attempted to play the guitar, but could play a good tune on the harmonica. His motto in life was “to do it right the first time”.
Survived by his loving wife of 54 years: Blondena (Spears), Children: Cindy (Roger) Counts of Temperance, MI, George (Betty Fisher of Wellston, Debbie (Larry) Exline of Stonewood, WV, Mike Fisher (Genie Day) of Marengo, Wally (Brenda) Fisher of Marengo, Selina Walker of Mt. Gilead, 17 Grandchildren, numerous Great-grandchildren.
Also preceded in death by daughter-in-law: Nanette and brother Walter.
Friends may call Tuesday 5-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, (SR 229) in Marengo, where services will be held Wednesday 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Ben Powers officiating, burial will follow in Marengo Cemetery.
