Glen Childers, age 84, of Marion

Glen Childers age 84 of Marion, Ohio went home to be with his Lord and Savoir after a long three year battle with cancer at the home of his daughter in Cardington, OH., surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, April 27, 2010.

He was born August 20, 1925 in Richardson, KY., to the late Harmon and Ethel Nellie (Wooten) Childers.

On July 19, 1941 he married Anna Mary (Baldwin) Childers, she preceded him in death on November 28, 1995.

Glen was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during WWII, and was retired from Tecumseh Products after working 20 plus years. He was very active and a deacon at the Marion Enterprise Baptist Church, and enjoyed singing and playing gospel music with his guitar at the Marion Manor with his friends.

He is survived by his three sons, William H. (Shelba) Childers of Ashley, OH., Glen J. (Donna) Childers of Mealey, KY., Richard L. Childers of Marion, OH., five daughters, Linda (Orville) Wing of Larue, OH., Donna Webster of Marion, OH., Ollie (John) O'Hare of Marion, OH., Naomi (David) Cox of Marion, OH., Ruth (Bob) Piper of Cardington, OH., 25 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, a brother, Clint (Gretchen) Childers of Richdson, KY., a sister, Marie Childers of Richardson, KY., and special friends, Nina Whitt of Marion, OH., Jim Dutton of Marion, OH.

He was preceded in death by a son, Rondal Ray Childers, a grandchild, Tammy Paige and two great grandchildren, Rachel Tippie, Caleb Elliott.

The funeral service for Glen will be Saturday, May 1, 2010 11 AM at Marion Enterprise Baptist Church with Rev. Corey Carrol and Rev. Paul McKenzie officiating, burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, April 30, 2010 from 3 – 8 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home.
