Kendrick A. Collins, Sr. passed away at his residence Friday afternoon, April 23, 2010 at the age of 77.
He was born June 5, 1932 to the late Nelson and Mary (Parker) Collins in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. On August 31, 1957 in Marion Kendrick married Genevieve Joy Middleton who survives in Marion.
Kendrick was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Whirlpool as an assembler. He was a member of the Masons, White Sulfur Lodge in Delaware, Ohio; and the Shriners in Columbus, Ohio.
In addition to his wife Kendrick is survived by 3 sons, Kendrick A. Collins, Jr., Travis (Audrey) Collins, and Nelson (Harriett) Collins all of Marion; 2 daughters, Marcia Middleton of Marion, and Carrie (George) Pittman of Spartanburg, South Carolina; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Edward Witherspoon of Detroit, Michigan, and Henry Collins of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; special niece, Beverly Paul of L.A., California; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 sisters.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, April 29, 2010 from 6-8 PM at Boyd-Born Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Friday, April 30 at 12 Noon with Elder Tyrone Kaiser at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.
