Maurice E. James, age 97, of Big Island

Maurice E. James, age 97, of Big Island, died Tuesday April 27, 2010 at 7:45 PM at Kenton Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born November 18, 1912 in Marion County to the late Hughie and Virgie (Roush) James. On August 27, 1938 he married Marian Faye Schreck and she died July 17, 1987.

Mr. James was a farmer and farming truly was his life. However he did work for over 40 years at the Marion Power Shovel as a blacksmith.

Surviving is one son; Gary H. (Cynthia) James of Big Island and one daughter Joan (Ron) Morris of Mt Gilead. Grandchildren; Matthew (Laurie) James, Justin (Lora) James, David Highland, and Kevin Highland.  Great Grandchildren; Matt James, Dylan James and Stevie Highland. Brothers; Raymond (Marcella) James of Wellsville, Herb (Anna) James of New Bloomington, Sisters; Mary (Dale) Hughes of LaRue, Marguerite Hickman of Morral, Thelma Hickman of Morral,  Virgie Ann Kinsler of New Bloomington, Betty Lou (Bill) Jones of Big Island and Mabel Behl of Indiana.

He was preceded in death by brothers; John, Donald and Earl James, sisters; Janet Graham, Lilia Mae James, and his twin Doris Roszman.

Funeral Services will be held Friday April 30, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue.  Minister will be Pastor Christopher Wiseman.  Burial in the LaRue Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home in LaRue from noon until service time on Friday.
