Robert “Bob” E. Cull, age 78, of Marion

Robert “Bob” E. Cull passed away Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Riverside Methodist Hospital at the age of 78.

He fought a courageous battle from complications from an aneurism.

He was born September 26, 1931 in Marion to the late Herman and Mildred (Orians) Cull. He married Louise Veley in Marion at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on November 15, 1958.

Bob served in the United States Air Force for 4 years. He was a Korean War Veteran and was stationed in Okinawa. He attended a yearly reunion with his fellow military comrades.

He worked as a process engineer for 20 years with Tecumseh Products. He also worked several years with the Marion County Bank. As a teen he worked at Stewart’s Root Beer Stand on N. Main Street.

He graduated from Harding High School and attended Bowling Green State University.

He attended the First Church of God in Delaware,Ohio where he eventually served as trustee and assistant treasurer for many years. He then attended Dayspring Wesleyan so he could be closer to home.

Bob  was a member of the Lion’s Club, Marion Industrial Club, and American Legion. He was also a Junior Achievement advisor and Science Fair Judge for many years at the Marion Coliseum.

He loved to attend his grandchildren’s sporting events, especially traveling all over to watch his granddaughter, Amy Daniels.

He shared a special bond with his son, David, as they spent time working on projects together.

Bob enjoyed gardening and produced great yields of Iowa Chief Corn which was his specialty. He also was an avid reader who enjoyed politics, traveling with his family, and was the world’s best “doodler”. Bob loved the Lord and he loved life.

Along with his wife, Bob is survived by two sons, Jeffrey (Barb) Cull, and David Cull both of Marion; his daughter, Connie (Mike) Daniels of Marion; two grandchildren, Ryan and Amy Daniels; his sister, Evelyn (George) Winkler of Dalton, Ohio; and his beloved dog, Skip.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, May 2, 2010 from 4-7 PM at Boyd-Born Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Monday, May 3 at 10:30 AM at Dayspring Wesleyan Church officiated by Pastor Dave Holdren. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by Marion Area Veteran’s Council.
