Carl Edgar Taylor Sr., age 64, of Marion, went to be with the Lord and was reunited with his wife early Monday morning, May 10, 2010, at Heartland of Marion.
On November 2, 1945, Carl was born in Big Chimney, West Virginia, the son of the late Howard R. and Blanche F. (Workman) Taylor.
After having been introduced through mutual family friends with Roxie Starcher, Carl would walk across town just to see her nearly every day. For Carl, there was no doubt Roxie would forever be the love of his life, so after dating for only 6 months he proposed for her hand in marriage. On June 14, 1969, Carl and Roxie were married and shared over thirty wonderful years together. He has had a hole in his heart since May 29, 2002, the day she preceded him in death.
Both Carl and Roxie most enjoyed spending their time with their only son Carl E. “CJ” Taylor Jr. Carl and his father enjoyed their time together hunting and fishing where Roxie would stay at home and cook their game. Carl also enjoyed mushroom hunting during the spring and fall seasons.
Always looking forward to the family reunions in West Virginia, Carl enjoyed his vacations with his entire family. All young people looked to Carl for love, friendship, and guidance. Carl returned that love to his extended family.
An avid sports fan, Carl enjoyed watching his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes.
A man of many talents, Carl loved to work with his hands making canes, knives, and anything to do with carving wood.
A man of deep faith, Carl was a member of the Full Gospel Christian Church in Marion for over five years where he helped.
Carl will be dearly missed by his only son: Carl E. “CJ” Taylor Jr.; 4 brothers: Roland G. Taylor of West Virginia, Ray (Betty) Taylor of West Virginia, William “Bill” (Karen) Taylor of Kentucky, and Douglas “Doug” (Ferabelle) of West Virginia; two sisters: Barbara Ann (Don) Varney of Kentucky, and Juanita Faye (Ray) Caruthers of West Virginia.
The family will greet friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion. Services celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home at 11 a.m., with Pastor Clayton Young officiating.
