Clyde Roy Compton, age 83 of Mt. Gilead passed away Saturday morning May 29th, 2010 in Community Health Care Center of Marion.
He was born October 14th, 1926 in Virginia the son of the late Wallace & Altie M (Hess) Compton.
He was first joined in marriage to Mary Cantrell on June 9, 1952. She passed away on September 28, 1978. On July 7th, 1983 he married Minnie (Paxton) Medley. She survives him at home.
Clyde was an expert welder. He worked for many years at Peabody Galion and operated Compton & Sons Welding Shop for a period of time.
In his free time he enjoyed many different venues of music including playing the banjo and guitar and dancing. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed many hours hunting and fishing.
Besides his wife Clyde is survived by his children; William (Sue Ellen) Compton of Galion, Charlie (Harvey) Musser of Cardington, Paul (Donna) Compton of Johnsville, David (Mary) Compton of Caledonia, Sharon (Larry) Hunt of Marion, Vencil (Debbie) Medley of Green Camp, Robert (Betty Jo) Medley of Marion and Barbara (David) DeLauder also of Marion. Twenty Three grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother Arnold and an infant daughter.
Funeral Services for Clyde will be held at 1:30 P. M. Tuesday June 1st, 2010 at the Timson Allen & Melroy Funeral Home in Caledonia. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Monday from 6 until 9 pm.
