Ervin L. Davis, age 77, of Marion, Ohio peacefully went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born August 24, 1932 in Agosta, Ohio to the late John S. Mary Ann (VanOrder) Davis.
On October 10, 1953 Ervin married the love of his life, Mary K. (Haviland) she preceded him in death on June 13, 2008.
Ervin was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, where he was awarded the Bronze Star with valor and the Purple Heart. He was employed at M.C.I. as a supervisor and corrections officer for 25 years before his retirement in 1992. Ervin was envolved with various organizations around Marion, like the American Legion #162 and B.P.O.E. #32 where he was a past exalted ruler.
Ervin is survived by his two daughters, Cynthia M. Davis of Marion, OH., Laura R. (Ray) Brown of El Paso, TX., two grandchildren, Bryant Brown and Dustin Applegate, a brother, John Davis of Marion, OH., two sisters, Betty (Tom) Wyckoff of Dublin, OH., Ruth (Gary) Silvers of Marion, OH., and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Davis and Walter Davis, and a grandson, Joseph Applegate.
A graveside service will be held at a later date in Agosta Cemetery with a military service. The Boyd-Born Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for the family.
