Gomer Byno Hampton, 68, of Marion

Gomer Byno Hampton, age 68, of Marion died Monday May 17, 2010 at his home.

He was born on April 24, 1942 in Virgie, Kentucky the son of the late Cecil and Rita Mae (Tackett) Hampton.

On October 12, 1964 he married Ifello Johnson.  They were married for 37 years before her passing on May 3, 2002.

He has lived in Marion since 1963 and worked for Rider Brass in Bucyrus.  Prior to his move to Marion he lived in Long Fork, Kentucky.

Faithful to his Lord, Gomer attended the Family of Love, Old Regular Baptist Church in Wyandot; a church he helped build many years ago.  He loved reading the Bible and singing the traditional gospel songs.

Gomer was a wheeler-dealer and was always looking to replace his car with a “new” one.

His family noted that he loved to eat, especially his favorites, Paydays and Pepsi’s.  He also never went anywhere without his Skoal.

He will be missed by his children John (Julie) Hampton of Marion, Connie Hampton of Marion, Elmer Hampton of Upper Sandusky, and Delmar Hampton of Marion; grandchildren; Shawn (Olivia) Hampton, Stacy (John) Cromwell, Shay Banks, Brittany Hampton, Sara Banks, Jonathan Hampton, Heather Cranston, Gregory Hampton, Shelby Hampton, Alex Hampton, Mason Hampton, Ema Hampton, and Alayna Hampton, great grandchildren Mackenzie, Jade, R.J., Kristi, L.J. Adyson, Kyle, Jacob, and Carl; brother David Michael (Nancy) Hampton of Wyandot; and sisters Geraldine (Bob) Cellars of Marion and Christine Chapman of Meeker.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his brothers James Abel, Landon, and Darrel.

Friends may call on the family on Friday May 21, 2010 starting at 3:00 PM at the Family of Love, Old Regular Baptist Church in Wyandot.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM with Clifford Bradley officiating.  Funeral services and burial will take place in Kentucky.
