Harold Franklin Monk passed away Monday, May 3, 2010 at Community Healthcare Center at the age of 89.
He was born October 3, 1920 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Charles and Carrie (Grady) Monk. He married Irene Marie Davis in Greenup, Kentucky on September 23, 1938.
Harold is survived by his wife, Irene Monk of Marion; his daughter, Carolyn Jean Shumate of Marion; three grandchildren, David, Deborah, and Daniel Shumate; two great granddaughters, Searra Shumate Johns, and Saretta Main; and three great-great grandchildren.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ernest, who died at the age of 11, Fred, and Charles Monk; and eight sisters.
Services will be held Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5-6 PM followed by a funeral service with Reverend Corey Carroll and Reverend Jim McIntire at 6 PM. Burial will be Friday, May 7 at 1 PM at the Rushtown Cemetery in Rushtown, Ohio.
Contributions in memory of Harold may be made to Marion Enterprise Baptist Church, where he was formerly an associate pastor.
