Irene May (Klingel) Sanborn, 89, of Delaware

Irene May (Klingel) Sanborn, age 89, of Delaware died Thursday May 27, 2010 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware.

She was born on January 13, 1921 in Marion, the daughter of the late Edward and Grace (Hensel) Klingel.

Irene was a 1939 graduate of Waldo High School.

On August 26, 1941 she married Carl O. Sanborn in Ashland, Kentucky.  He came to her family farm to husk corn.  They became acquainted, dated, and in 6 months they were married.  Their union and friendship lasted 61 years, before his passing on February 5, 2003.

Irene attended the Radnor United Church of Christ.

She was a happy homemaker and loved her role as wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Irene was a Cincinnati Reds fan and enjoyed playing the slots at the casinos.

She will be missed by her son Jerry and his wife Patricia of Lancaster; daughters Sharon Holbrook of Marion and Teresa Sanborn of Delaware; grandchildren Kirk Sanborn, Amy Keucken, Robin S. McGlone, Rochelle Buckey, and Rhonda Holbrook; seven great grandchildren; and a sister Mary Lou Walker of Marion.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson Randy L. Buckey; 4 brothers and 6 sisters.

Friends may call on the family on Monday May 31, 2010 from 4-7 p.m. at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center Street, Marion.  Funeral services will be held there on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.  Burial will follow in Waldo Cemetery.
