John J. Kristof, 88, of Marion, died on Monday, May 3, 2010 at his residence.
John was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph and Ann (Vargo) Kristof on September 14, 1921.
John served in the Army during WWII and received the Bronze Star. He was a graduate from Carnegie College and Cleveland State. He came to Marion in 1968 where he later retired as Director of Research and Development from Sycon after 30 years. John served St. Mary Church as an usher and funeral usher attendant for many years.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth M. (Hoelke) Kristof. She passed away on Monday, February 19, 2007, they celebrated 58 years of marriage together.
He is survived by daughters, Marguerite Kristof of New York, N.Y., Cynthia (Richard) Carmean of Munroe Falls; sons, Joseph (Deborah) Kristof of Delaware, Mark (Carolyn) Kristof of Kingston, Mich., Stephen Kristof of Marion; granddaughters, Jennifer (Travis) Plummer of Tomball, Texas, Jamie (Charles) Skelton of Trophy Club, Texas; great grandchildren, Halle and Brendon Skelton; and a sister, Anna Ohannessian.
Also preceding him in death were his sisters, Vivian Kristof, Amelia DeStefano, Gizella Lux, and Vilma Ahern.
Friends may call on Thursday, May, 6 2010 from 5-8 p.m. in the Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors, 347 West Center Street, Marion, with parish prayers at 5 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 7, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary Church, 251 N. Main Street, Marion, with Fr. Michael Nimocks celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Marion.
