Jonas J. Fields age 83 of Larue, Ohio passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Marion Manor.
Born January 28, 1927 in Ashland Kentucky to Ella Runyun Fields.
Jonas served in all four branches of the service, he fought in the Korean War, the Philippines, and WW II.
He was employed at Eaton Mfg. for 34 years before retiring in 1989.
Jonas loved children and taking his family on many trips to Ashland. He loved gardening and was especially fond of music and the guitar which he always called "his baby". He loved to visit friends and family on the weekends where they all were musicians and played for hours. Jonas had a talent in art and could draw. This he taught to all 5 of his children which have carried this on to their children.
Jonas is survived by his wife Doris Marie Feilds of Larue, two sons Wesley Fields of Larue and Mike Fields of Tampa, Florida, two daughters, Karen Roberts and Rhonda Houseworth of Marion, one brother Bill Urick of Marion, ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and cousins and his dear friends, Margie Davidson and Betty Fields of Ashland.
He was preceded in death by his mother Ella Runyun and sister Martha Arnett both of Ashland Ky. and a son Jeffrey L. Fields.
Family will receive friends from 4:00 PM till 7:00 PM Friday, May 7, 2010 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors with Rev. Charles Zweizig officiating. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery with the Marion County United Veterans Council conducting military honors. Jonas's pallbearers will be his grandsons.
