Mary Louise Augenstein, 93, of Marion

Mary Louise Augenstein passed away Saturday morning, May 8, 2010 at her daughter’s residence.

Mary was born June 20, 1916 in Marion to Cardinal and Bertha (Zimmerman) First. She was married to George Augenstein in Greenup, Kentucky June 6, 1931. George passed away February 6, 1978.

Mary had been a pie baker for Isaly’s. She was a member of the Marion Senior Center and Emanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crafts and gardening, and loved to spend time with her family.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Rozella “Rosie” Wilkes of Marion; five grandchildren, George Edington, Sheryl Bates, Deborah Mullins, Rick Augenstein, and Bobby Wilkes; 13 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, June Augenstein of Marion.

Along with her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Richard Augenstein; great-great grandson, Nicholas Pitts; brother, Paul First; and sister, Dorothy Bass.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 1 PM at Boyd-Born Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Schuring. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery. Friends and family may visit with the Family Tuesday, May 11 from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.

Contributions in memory of Mary may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church and Marion General Hospital’s Quality of Life Hospice Program.
