Richard A. Dodds, 71, of Marion passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, May 8, 2010 at Marion General Hospital.
Dick was born December 31, 1938 in Marion, Ohio. He married Janis B. Edgar on June 29, 1968 in Akron.
Dick worked for Erie Lackawana Railroad, Conrail, and retired from CSX with 42 years of service. He was a member of the Masons, Jaycee’s, and the Vera Chapter Eastern Star. He volunteered at the First Presbyterian Church, The Marion Senior Center, The Department of the Aging, and Operation Life Saver.
Dick is survived by his wife, Janis B. Dodds; parents Ivor and Dorothy Dodds; brothers, Michael and Jeremy Dodds; sister, Mellisa Porter; and brother and sister-in-law Rich and Sue Edgar.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Christy Dodds.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, May 11, 2010 from 4-8 PM at Boyd-Born Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 12 at 10 AM at the funeral home with Reverend Dr. Thomas J. Mori. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.
Dick was a loving and caring husband, father and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
