Harry Richard DeWeber, Marion, passed away quietly on Saturday, June 12, 2010 in Marion General Hospital in the company of his family.
Dick was born in Pawnee City, Nebraska on June 14, 1927. He was the fourth of eleven children to Harry J. and Irene DeWeber.
As a teen the family moved to Pasco, Washington. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in 1946. He then attended Cascade College where he met and married Audrey Holmes in 1947. They celebrated sixty-three years of marriage on June 7.
Dick and Audrey raised their two children in Whittier, California and moved to Marion with their son and wife in 2009 where they were active members of the First Church of the Nazarene.
Dick is survived by his wife, Audrey, son Steve (Cindy) deWeber of Marion and daughter Rebecca (Don) Black of Lake Elsinore, CA. He had six grandchildren, Penny Black and Flavia (Sam) Gibson, both of Madison, WI, Adam (Gretchen) deWeber of Marion, Eric (Laura) deWeber of Boca Raton, FL, Candace Weible of Lake Elsinore, CA, and Amy deWeber of Nashville, TN. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, three sisters, five brothers and countless nieces and nephews.
Dick lived to provide for his family and live out his faith by serving God in the church. He was a good husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Last year he spent his birthday in the hospital. This year he spent his birthday in Heaven. Without his walker.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2010 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at the First Church of the Nazarene, 233 West Church St, Marion, Ohio with the funeral service on Friday, June 18, 2010 at 10:30 am at the church with the Pastors of the church as officiants. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery with the Marion County United Veterans Council providing veteran honors.
