Dorothy Frances Waters died peacefully in her sleep on March 14, 2001, at the home of her daughter with whom she resided in Marion, Ohio.
She was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on October 23, 1922, and married Richard E. Waters on March 30, 1946, who predeceased her on November 22, 1992.
Dorothy was a Marion resident for most of her 88 years, moving here in 1950. She was mother to Sandy (Bob) Cramer and Russ (Christy) Waters and grandmother to Kim (Jason) Frank, Kerri (Stephen) Karrick, and Lori Waters.
Her grandchildren, as well as her six great grandchildren, referred to her fondly as “Granny.”
She was always so kind and generous to them and they sought her out wherever she was. Dorothy was an independent lady who was self-sufficient up to the week before her death. She had many special acquaintances over the years with whom she so enjoyed talking to on the telephone. She could truly talk circles around anyone!
Dorothy took pride in being an avid animal lover, with special fondness for all cats and dogs, especially German shepherd dogs. Kindness to animals was paramount for her, and she never stopped believing that people who treat animals with compassion will be truly rewarded. She passed this love for animals to her family member as their legacy.
Anyone wishing to make contributions in her memory would be encouraged to do so to their favorite Humane Society.
Pursuant to Dorothy’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
