Garland Clyde Roush, 89, of Mount Gilead

Garland Clyde Roush, age 89, of Mount Gilead, died Sunday evening March 27, 2011 at Country View of Sunbury.

On October 11, 1921, Clyde was born in Graham Station, West Virginia, the son of the late Garland and Opal C. (Lieving) Roush.

He graduated from Wahama High School in Mason, WV, in the Class of 1941.  A World War II Veteran, Clyde served his country in the U.S. Army.

Clyde was employed by North American Aviation/ Boeing as a wind tunnel engineer for more than 30 years.

A busy body, Clyde was always up to something.  He took his camera everywhere, photographing everything in sight.  He loved the outdoors, camping and was a V.I.P. at the Mount Gilead State Park.  Clyde also loved the Christmas season, especially displaying his own Christmas lights, which took days to put up with the help of his family.

Clyde will be dearly missed by his wife, Dorothy Eileen Roush; five children: Opal (Rick) Sanders of Marengo, Kim (Loui Klusty) Roush of Westerville, Pam Schlereth of Upper Arlington, Kip (Karen) Roush of Columbus, Karen (“Butch”) Frederick of Mount Gilead; two grandchildren: Brandie (Jeremy Eichhorn) Sanson of Bucyrus, Robert A. Frederick of Hilliard; a great grandchild, Hayden Lee Eichhorn; a brother, Irwin (Carolyn) Capehart of TX; two sisters: Juanita Abbott of Point Pleasant, WV,  and Lenora (Don) MacNight of Pomeroy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lou Spires; four brothers: Delbert Roush, Buford, Eddie and Willie Capehart; a sister, Ruth Capehart; and his ex-wife, Alice Roush.

Friends may call on the family on Friday, April 1, 2011 from 10 AM until Noon at the Snyder Funeral Home, 76 S. Main St., Mt. Gilead.  Services celebrating his life will be held there at Noon with Pastor Ed Colegrove officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow in Sunbury Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel Hospice or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
