After a courageous fight with cancer, Linda K. McCurdy Fletcher, age 69, died in Marion on March 18, 2011 with her family by her side.
Linda was born and raised in Marion and attended Harding High School and then Ohio University.
As a young woman she worked in the legal department of Lazarus Department Store in Columbus, Ohio but shortly after her son was born she became a fulltime home-maker. In addition to living in Marion and several other Ohio cities, she resided with her family in Longview, Texas, Houston, Texas, Ogden, Utah, and Stavanger, Norway.
Linda enjoyed watching football and was both an Ohio State and a New England Patriots fan. She also enjoyed trips to the casino with her friends and her husband.
Linda is survived by her husband of 44 years, Robert Fletcher, and her son, Brad Fletcher, daughter-in-law, Tracy Fletcher, and grandchildren, Shelby Fletcher and Jack Fletcher all of Dallas, Texas. Also surviving are sister, Nancy Thomas and brother-in-law, Al Thomas of Marion, brother, Dick McCurdy and sister-in-law, Sharon McCurdy of Marion, sister Beverly Sturgiss and brother-in-law, Pat Sturgiss of Hilliard, Ohio and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Richard D. and Ruth Irene McCurdy of Marion.
The viewing will be at Boyd-Born Funeral Home, Marion, Ohio from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22nd. A funeral service will be conducted at Boyd-Born Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. on March 23rd with a reception to follow at the Knights of Columbus.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Marion General Hospital Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
