Jerry Gates age 65 of Caledonia passed away Friday, April 15, 2011 at his residence.
Born in Marion to the late James A. and Goldie M. (Dolittle) Gates.
On June 29, 1969 Jerry married Brenda (Christian) Gates and she survives.
Jerry was a Navy Veteran in the Vietnam War. He was a Materials Handler for Whirlpool Corporation for 35 years and retired in 2007.
Jerry was on the US Open Commission, King and Queen Chairman for the Whirlpool Peanut Push, Church Deacon for the Emanuel Reformed Church and a member of VFW 3313. He enjoyed Golf and Bowling and was an avid OSU fan and Browns fan.
Survivors include his wife Brenda, two sons Jerry G. (Terra) Gates Jr, Harrold G "Corky" Gates both of Caledonia, one daughter Jodi S. (Kevin L.) Burnette of Green Camp, four brothers James (Jenny) Gates, Vernor (Ruth) Gates, Randy (Sonia) Gates all of Marion, Harold (Debbie) Gates of Mansfield, two sisters Regina (Donald) Shepard, Shellei Call of Marion, six grandchildren Chelsea Burnette, Chelsey Armstrong, Zachary Burnette, Justina Gates, Kory Gates, Austin Gates, two great-grandchildren Aubriana and Brayden Newsome, and special Aunt Ponnie Kimmel.
Preceding Jerry in death are a brother Frank Gates, two sisters Polly Baughman, Peggy Cantrell, two grand-babies Abby and Allie.

Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m Monday, April 18, 2011 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors with Rev. David Lippert officiating, military services will be conducted by Marion County United Veterans Council pryor to burial. Burial will follow in Chapel Heights Memory Gardens.
