Miriam R. Reed, 71, of Marion

Miriam R. Reed, age 71, of Marion, died Saturday, April 23, 2011 at her residence.

On July 22, 1939, Miriam was born in New Bloomington, Ohio, one of sixteen children of the late Claude and Maude (McKim) Persinger.

She graduated from Marion Harding High School in the Class of 1957.

For many years, Miriam worked as a bank teller in Marion.

Most important of all to Miriam was her family.  To her three children, she “was the best Mom in the world!”  She would do anything for her children, such as drive through a blizzard to get them McDonald’s if that’s what they wanted.  Truly, she was the “mother everyone else wanted” too.  The happiest moments for Miriam, were any moments spent with her grandchildren.  She loved to spoil them rotten, and enjoyed watching them participate in sports and other activities.

With a soft spot for animals, Miriam truly loved the companionship of her dog, Chloe.

Having a great sense of humor, Miriam was extremely funny and would often surprise you with her quick wit.

Miriam will be dearly missed by her three children: Doug (Diane) Steiner of Hamilton, Jay (Cindy) Steiner of Marion, and Angela (Michael) Malone of Cincinnati; seven grandchildren: Lindsay, Douglas, Rachel, Jessica, Kelsey, and Devon Steiner, and Annie and Jane Malone; her companion, Buck McCullough; three brothers, three sisters, and one half sister; countless nieces and nephews; and her former husband, Albert Steiner of Marion.

Including her parents, Miriam was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Reed; two brothers, two sisters, two half brothers, and two half sisters.

Miriam’s family will greet friends from 5 – 7 p.m. on Monday, April 25, 2011, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion.  Services celebrating her life will be held at All Occasions, 6989 Waldo Delaware Rd, Waldo, OH on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., with Pastor Bill Snyder officiating.  Graveside services will immediately follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Delaware.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Marion Area Humane Society and they may be sent to the care of the funeral home.
