Paul L. Paul L. Wilson, 87, of Marion, Ohio passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011 at his residence.
He was born October 18, 1923 in Marion, Ohio to the late Wells and Oda Mae (Munion) Wilson. He was number seven of nine children.
He was preceded in death by siblings, Alice, Charles, Woodrow, Demaris, Donald, Devere, and James; and his wife, Delores M. Wilson.
Paul was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in the Pacific during WWII. He retired from M.P.S. as a machinist after forty plus years after the service.
Paul is survived by sisters, Virginia (Dennis) Baker, and Elaine Chaffin; nieces Kay, Barb, Brenda, and Carol; and nephews, Jim, Ron, Paul, Don, Jerry, Charles, and David. He will be missed by his love Marilyn George; and good friend Margaret Bigford.
He was a hero to his nephews who felt he maintained a delicate balance of being a pal and a father figure to them. There was always tid bits of wisdom that he gave his nephews. He cared little about material things and always said he wasn't a wanter. His family meant the most to him.
He loved sports especially golf and tennis. And he enjoyed playing with his nephews or neighbor's kids in his yard. He never had any kids, but all the kids that played in his yard were his kids. He liked participating in sports better than observing. He loved to play cards especially Pinochle, Euchre, Canasta, and he played every week. He was a member of Marion and Pleasant Senior Center. He lived life to the very end.
Funeral Services for Paul will be Wednesday, April 27, 2011 1 PM at Boyd-Born Funeral Home with Chaplain Daniel Kiger officiating. Burial will follow at Marion Cemetery. Marion County United Veterans Council will hold a military service. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 27, 2011 from 12-1 PM at Boyd-Born Funeral Home.
