Alice M. Burgess age 86 of Marion, Ohio went to be with the Lord, Monday, May 23, 2011 at Marion General Hospital.
She was born November 26, 1924 in Betsy Lane, Ky., to the late James and Clainda (King) Gilliam.
On December 1, 1942 she married William H. Burgess, he preceded her in death on December 4, 1995.
Alice was a member of the First Central Ohio Christian Community Church in Marion, she was employed at Sears for five years, private housekeeping and retired after ten years at American Nursing Care as a home health aid.
She is survived by four sons, Roy (Evelyn) Burgess of Ravenna, OH., Mike Burgess of Marion, OH., Paul (Tami) Burgess of Prospect, OH., John (Molly) Burgess of Nevada, OH., two daughters, Vonda Welch of Marion, OH., Barbara (David) Johnson of Marion, OH., 24 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, two brothers, John Gilliam of Anderson, SC., Jewell (Susan) Gilliam of KY., two sisters, Mary Syck of Pickville, KY., Ida Bowen of Readding, OH., and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, James Burgess and two sisters, Faye Hobson and Emma McCormick.
The funeral service for Alice will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2011 (11 AM) at First Central Ohio Christian Community Church, 821 N. State St. Marion, Ohio with Pastors Grover Caudill and Ray Mullins officiating. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 24, 2011 from 6 – 9 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home.
