Alma “Jean” Stansbery, age 78, of Edison, died unexpectedly at her residence on Thursday morning, May 26, 2011, following a brief illness.
She was born on August 23, 1932, in Upper Tiger, Kentucky, to the late Edwin and Flossie (Smith) Clark.
On October 16, 1948, Jean married the love of her life, Floyd A. Stansbery, and they shared over forty two years together. He preceded her in death on December 11, 1996.
Shortly after their marriage, Jean and Floyd moved to Edison, Ohio, in 1952, and she had worked at North Electric in Galion for many years, and at her son’s family owned Pizza Shop “Peppy’s” in Fredericktown.
A woman of deep faith, Jean was a member of the Edison United Methodist Church. In her earlier years, she had a love for attending her flower gardens and got several awards for creating such beautiful ceramics.
Jean will be dearly missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Patti Stansbery of Edison; two daughters and sons-in-laws: Beverly and Bruce Phillips of Walkersville, Md., and Tamra and Bill Wilson of Fredericktown; eight grandchildren: Bruce Phillips II of North Carolina, Heather (Michael) Phillips Demory of Maryland, Shanna (Tony) Stansbery Bales of Hudson, Ohio, Dr. Shawn (Alicia) Stansbery of Bowling Green, Ohio, Brian (Kelly) Pangborn of Mount Gilead, David Testa of Columbus, and Thomas and Nicole Wilson of Fredericktown; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, James Clark of Edison; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Stansbery family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Monday, May 30, 2011, at the Snyder Funeral Home, 76 South Main Street, Mount Gilead. Services celebrating her life will also be held there on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Don Lockwood and Pastor Matt Skelton officiating. Burial will follow in Rivercliff Cemetery in Mount Gilead.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Edison United Methodist Church for their back lot improvement project, and they may be sent to the care of the funeral home.
