Dale E. Hamilton, 87, of Prospect

Dale E. Hamilton, age 87 of Prospect, formerly of Richwood, died early Thursday morning, June 23, 2011 at his home, with his loving family by his side.

He was born January 8, 1924 in Union County to the late Willard Waldo and Jessie Myrtle (Carmine) Hamilton.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Glen, Carl and George and four sisters, Vivian Converse, Dorothy Fulcher, Edna Herbert and Alma Love.

On August 9, 1947 he married the former Sarah E. Ryan in West Mansfield and she died December 8, 2009 after 62 years of marriage. 

He was a John Deere parts manager who was known for his extensive knowledge and was counted on by many farmers in the area. Over a period of over 40 years, he worked for Russell Case Implement, Parrott Implement and Creviston Implement. He was a member of the former York-McKendree United Methodist Church.

Dale was a true avid sports fan and enjoyed spending time with his family at sporting events. He followed the teams of his children, grandchildren and other kids in the community. He enjoyed bowling and when he was younger he played basketball and baseball. A former York Township trustee and a member of the former Richwood Lions Club, he was an active member of his local communities.

He is survived by two sons, Tim (Cheryl) Hamilton, Plain City; Brian (Cathy) Hamilton, Marion; three daughters, Rita (Criss) Somerlot, Powell; Kathy (Terry) Mullen, Belpre; Marcia (Don) Brake, Marysville; nine grandchildren, Tisha (Jason) Alexander, Cort Hamilton, Ryanne (Justin) Ufferman, Abbey (Brad) Pottkotter, Kent (Ashley) Hamilton, Matthew Somerlot, Jennifer (Dave) Rodgers, Travis (Arpita) Wells, Nathan (Toni) Brake, eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley (Harold) Grose, West Mansfield; Mabel Wright, Marion.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 27, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Bryan Meadows officiating.  Burial will follow in York Cemetery.  Friends may call from 2 to 6 PM on Sunday at the funeral home in Richwood.
