James "Jim" K. Peacock, age 74, of Marion passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2011, at 8:45 a.m. in his home.
He was born on December 11, 1936 in Marion, Ohio to the late Merle and Martha Jane "Marty" ( Sweney) Peacock.
On May 6, 1960 in Marion he married Barbara Riley and she survives. Together they had 3 daughters; Rebecca (Willie) Creagh of Columbus, Oh., LuAnn (Tim) Butler of Marion, Oh., and Jamie (Joe Dagrava) Peacock of Senecaville, Oh., 9 grandchildren; Zion Creagh of Columbus, Adam Peacock of Port Clinton, Seth Peacock of Marion, Tiffany Butler of Marion, Bodean & Trevor Campbell of Senecaville, Noah & Michael Creagh of Columbus, 6 great grandchildren; James, Riley, Mason, Trinity, Hunter, & Braxtyn, 1 due in September; Cadyn. Jim has 2 surviving sisters; Pamela Wood of Titusville, Fla. and Marla (Tom) Boblenz of Marion along with 1niece & 2 nephews.
Jim worked most of his life in the family business; Peacock Plumbing & Heating, until its closing. He then went to work for the city of Marion as plumbing inspector until his retirement.
Jim graduated from the "old" Harding High School in 1955. He then servfed in the U.S.Navy as a seebee from 1955-1959.
He was past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge #32 and past Commander of the Marion Power Squadron. Jim was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and a 32nd degree mason. He spent his lifetime of summers on his boat "JA-BE-LU" on Lake Erie.
Jim enjoyed boating, swimming, fishing, and parties at the lake, but most of all he enjoyed his grandkids, great grandkids, and his dog; Sadie.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. in the Boyd-Born Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Marion Cemetery. Rev. Dwight Hord will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
Contributions in Jim's name may be given to the American Diabetes Association, The American Heart Association, or to the Disabled American Veterans.
The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to Carol, Lacey, and the girls from American Nursing. Military rites will be given by the Marion County Veterans Council. "CATCH THAT BIG ONE DAD"
