Matthew “Chu” Howard Moore, age 28, of Portsmouth, VA and formerly of Marion, Ohio, died unexpectedly on Friday, June 17, 2011.
On March 25, 1983, Matthew was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, the son of Genevieve May Moore and John Wright. On January 30, 2009, Matthew was united in marriage to Ashlie Newton.
In his younger years, Matthew attended Gebhardt Enterprise Baptist Church where he was saved. Matthew was a construction worker who enjoyed tattoos, motorcycles, and riding horses.
Matthew will be dearly missed by his wife, Ashlie (Newton) Moore; his five children: Haley, Macey, Sevin, little Matthew, and Skyler; his parents, May Moore and John Wright; one sister, Tomiyia Ralston and her fiancé Bill Ralston; two brothers: Justin (Monica) Spencer, Jeremy (Kim) Burt; grandparents, Ray and Marilyn Moore; brothers-in-law: Duston Newton, Jason Coombs, Timothy Hopkins; sisters-in-law: Saydie Newton and Lucy Hopkins; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Susan and Jerry Hopkins; and many, aunts, uncles, great aunts, great uncles, and cousins.
Matthew was preceded in death by an uncle, Billy Ray Moore, his great grandparents, great aunts and great uncles.
The Moore family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion, OH 43302. Services celebrating his life will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the Pentecostal Believers in Christ, 347 N. Main St., Marion, with Pastor Clifford Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Heights Cemetery.
