Michael G. Liska, age 53, formerly of Marion, Ohio, and the past several years of Springfield, Ohio, died Sunday, June 5, 2011, at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio.
Mike was born July 30, 1957, in Marion to the late John F. and Margaret (Phalen) Liska.
He graduated from Marion Catholic High School in 1975, served in the U.S. Air Force, then served with the Ohio Air National Guard, totaling over 31 years of service, retiring as Master Sergeant. He was most proud of his 3 sons and family. He enjoyed watching sports, especially Cincinnati Reds, O.S.U., and gardening, fishing and woodworking.
He is survived by 3 sons, Michael G. (Betsy Richardson) Liska of Westerville, Ohio, Mark A. Liska of Indianapolis, Indiana, Justin M. Liska of Springfield, Ohio, sister, Mary Liska Smith of Marion, brother, Joseph Liska of Texas, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Julia Ann Liska, and Debbie M. Fields, and 1 brother John F. Liska, Jr.
Friends will be received Thursday, June 9, 2011, from 5 to 8 PM at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors, 347 West Center Street, Marion, Ohio, with closing services conducted by Chaplain Elaine Henderson. Private burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery.
