Kenneth James Crawford, 88, of Marion

Kenneth James Crawford, 88 of Marion, Ohio formerly of Tipp City, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 18, 2011 at 10:05 AM at his home with his family by his side.

He was born August 24, 1922 in Knoxville, Tennessee to the late Maggie McDonald and James M. Crawford.

Also preceading him in death was his daughter, Cecilla Crawford, grandson, Joel Crawford, sister, Lillian Ramsey and brothers Marvin Crawford and Donald Crawford. Ken is survived by his loving wife, Margaret A. Crawford, daughter, Mildred Kessler, sisters, JoAnn (Harry) Purbis and Elizabeth Purbis.

He is also survived by his stepchildren, Patricia (Paul) Bale, John (Bonnie) Potter Jr., Betty Potter-Paxton, Thomas W. Baker and Precilla (James) Perry. He is also survived by Paul Foust, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ken served in the United States Navy where he worked in the boiler room of the ship. He also served in WW II and was an active member of the VFW. He also performed masonary work in his lifetime. He retired from the United States Postal Service in 1990 where he worked as a postal clerk for 31 years.

Ken greatly enjoyed traveling and camping. He loved the game of baseball particulary the Cincinnati Reds. Boxing was also a favorite sport as well as watching westerns and Dancing With The Stars. He enjoyed reading and discussing politics on a regular basis. He always had the most generous heart donating to many causes.

Ken and his wife Margaret loved one another with all their hearts and gave their lives to the Lord by accepting Jesus Christ as their savior. Ken also loved his family and expressed his love to them often.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Ken's special friends Shelley Persinger, Shannon Eilerman and Pator Shawn Jackson.

Visitation for Ken will be held Thursday, July 21, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Friday, July 22, 2011 at 11 AM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home with Pastor Shawn Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Marion Cemetery with the Marion County United Veterans Council holding a military service in Ken's honor.
