Richard D. Ishida, age 66, of Marion, died Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at 5 AM in the care of Marion Pointe Care Center.
He was born July 8, 1945, in Marion to the late Wilson T. and Sally S. (Yokoyama) Ishida.
Rick graduated from Marion Harding High School and earned All American and All State Football Honors plus Harding Hall of Fame. He then excelled in football at Indiana University and he also played baseball.
Rick was a teacher several years at Marion City Schools, involved in Ishida Concrete, but mostly was involved in farming.
Survivors include a sister, Milly A. Stockdale of Marion and a brother, Larry (Judy) Ishida of Marion, nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, July 22, 2011, at 10:30 AM at St. Mary Church with Father Michael Nimocks officiating. Private interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery at a later date. Friends may visit 1 hour prior to the mass at St. Mary Church and following the service at the K of C Hall luncheon.
