Ruth Mary Werley age 87, formerly of Marion passed away Monday July 25th at Regina Nursing Center in Norristown, Pa. after a long illness.
Born November 27th, 1923 to the late James and Sophia(Orthmeyer) Murphy.
Ruth was a long time resident of Marion, until 2000, when she moved to Wayne, Pennsylvania to live with her daughter. Ruth and her husband Carl(Bud) Werley operated the Werley Vending Co. until 1990.
Ruth was active in many organizations. At St. Mary’s Catholic Church she was active in the RCIA, and the Daughters of Isabella. She was a volunteer at the Snack Shop at the Marion General Hospital, and a volunteer cafeteria worker at the St. Mary’s Grade School, and the Marion Catholic High School. She was a member, and past president of the Marion Catholic School Board. She along with her husband Carl (Bud ) Werley graduated from St. Mary’s School in 1941, and were married in 1946.
Survivors include one daughter Jean Reilly of Wayne, Pa., grandchildren Brian Reilly of Bridgeport, Pa, Maureen Reilly of New York, N.Y.,and son- in law Bernie Reilly. Many nieces, nephews, and grand- nieces, and grand- nephews also survive.
She is preceded in death by her husband Carl (Bud) Werley, twin-brother Dr. Raymond Murphy of Cincinnati, brothers Robert Murphy of Dayton, Ohio, and Edward Murphy of St. Louis. Two sisters also precede her in death, Anna Marie Massaniso of Philadephia, Pa., and Eloise Dietrich of Terrace Park, Ohio.
She is survived by sisters-in-law Dorothy Lusch of Peoria, Illinois, Olga Werley of Westerville, Ohio, brother-in-law Richard Werley and his wife Betty of Punta Gorda Fla. She is preceded in death by Helen Werley of Marion, Rosemary Godfrey of Detroit, Mich., Frances Angermeier of St. Petersburg Beach, Fla,, Joseph Werley of Marion, and John Werley of Westerville, Ohio.
A viewing will be held Saturday morning, July 30, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 9:30 AM, with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:30 AM; followed by interment at St. Mary’s cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary’s Grade School, or Marion Catholic High School.
