Gareth Lamar Harper. 76. formerly of Marion

Gareth Lamar Harper age 76 of Mt. Gilead, Ohio and formerly of Marion, Ohio, passed away Monday August 8, 2011 at the Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.

He was born September 18, 1934 in Marion, Ohio to the late Carl A. and C. Maxine (Camp) Harper.

Gareth was retired after twenty-two years with the United States Air Force in the O.S.I.(Office of Special Investigation). He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Mt. Gilead, Ohio, was a graduate of Marion Harding High School and the Bowling Green State University. Gareth also taught at Tri-Rivers Vocational School in Marion for ten years and was a member of V.F.W. Post #7201 in Marion.

Gareth is survived by a son and four daughters; Ellis D. (Nancy) Harper of Marion, Lauran L. (Randy) Gilbert of Marion, and Rachel L., Delaney B. and Colette E. Harper all of Mt. Gilead. Six grandchildren survive; Sheri L. (Scott) Bishop, Gareth O. Harper, Thea M. (Joey) Coyen, Joseph L. (Cathrine) Harper, Christopher L. Gilbert and Andrew L. Gilbert, and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister; Carla A. (Jim) O'Dell of Prospect, Ohio, a special cousin Cheryl Laubner of Marion, Ohio and nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Gareth was preceded in death by a son; Brian Lamar Harper and two brothers, Larry A. and Richard K. Harper.

Funeral Services for Gareth will be Saturday August 13, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Mt. Gilead, Ohio. Officiating the service will be Rev. Charles Graham. Burial will be at a later date in the Caledonia Cemetery with Military Rites by the Marion County United Veterans Council. Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home Friday August 12, 2011 from 5 to 8 P.M. and also on Saturday August 13 one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 A.M. at the church.
