Paul J. Bell, 80, of Marion

Paul J. Bell, age 80, of Marion, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at the Kingston Residence of Marion.

Paul was born in Marion, OH on November 26, 1930 to Paul S. and Dorothy (Ellery) Bell. He is survived by his sister Phyllis Bell (Bill) Smith of Florida. His sister Betty Bell McCaskey is deceased.

On September 2, 1950, he married Marilyn Jo Rizer at the Trinity Baptist Church. They would have celebrated their 61st anniversary on September 2nd. They were the proud parents of five children; Paula Jo ( David) Elliott- deceased; LuAnne (Tom) Turner of Atlanta, GA; Tom (Mary Lou) Bell of Marion; Tim (Max Myers) Bell of Chicago, IL; and Todd (Roberta) Bell of Philadelphia, PA. They have been blessed with 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Fond memories remain of all of the families being together at Myrtle Beach and always sharing the Thanksgiving holiday together at home with Mom & Dad.

Paul was employed at the Erie Lackawanna Railroad, Conrail in Marion, and later worked for Amtrak in Philadelphia as Captain in the Security Division. He served on Marion City Council for fourteen years as both third ward councilman, and councilman at large. He served with the Marion Auxiliary Police for many years under Capt. Charlie Knackle. He was a member of Johnny Johnston’s Forward Class at Trinity Baptist Church, where many good times were had with class members. Pal graduated with the Class of 1949 of Harding High School, and enjoyed their many breakfasts and reunions over the years. He was also a member of the FOP Lodge #24.

Visitation for Paul will be held from 2 to 4PM Sunday August 28th at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center Street Marion, with funeral services there at 10:30AM Monday. Burial will follow at Marion Cemetery.
