Ruth H. Lindsay, 87, formerly of Richwood

Ruth H. Lindsay, age 87 formerly of Richwood, died Saturday afternoon, July 30, 2011 at her residence at the Sterling House in Marion.

She was born November 4, 1923 in Richwood to the late Homer and Ethel (Hodge) Fox.

On June 23, 1945 she married Arch L. Lindsay and he died August 21, 2009.  She was also preceded in death by one brother, Robert Fox and one sister, Audrey Mayte.

She was a member of the Richwood First Baptist Church where she was very active in various circles, including Paul Vick Guild and Annie Richards.  She was a member of OCCL Mothers Club, the Richwood Civic Center, and was a librarian in the Richwood-North Union Public Library for many years.  Ruth was a great cook and loved to entertain family and friends.  She enjoyed helping others in need and had been a volunteer for Marion General Hospital in the medical records department.  She and her husband, Arch enjoyed traveling and wintering in Florida.  They were inseparable and were often seen walking their dog, Bella in their later years.

She is survived by two sons, Dean Richard (Carla) Lindsay, Wilmette, Illinois; Kent E. (Cathy) Lindsay, Los Angeles, California; a daughter, Diane (Dan) Lehman, Richwood; six grandchildren, Kama (Michael) Rannells; Evan Lindsay and his fiancée, Lauren; Shelly (Jim) Robinson; Troy (Sarah) Lehman; Danika Lindsay; Kira Lindsay; and two great grandsons Mack Rannells and Chase Robinson.

A memorial will be held Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Richwood First Baptist Church where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Pastor Brian Moser will officiate and burial will follow in Claibourne Cemetery.  Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood is assisting the family with arrangements.
